- Firm Upgrades its On Line SEC EDGAR Filing Capabilities
|
- the Firm’s Corporate and General Business group now has the capability to do on line Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filings of SEC EDGAR (Electronic Data Gathering and Retrieval) through the SEC's EDGARlink(tm) software recently installed and successfully used by the Firm. This capability applies to EDGAR filings under, among other laws, the U.S. Securities Act of 1933 (e.g. securities registration statements), the U.S. Securities Exchange Act of 1934 (e.g. annual and quarterly reports of public companies), the Investment Company Act of 1940 (e.g. investment company registration statements) and the Williams Act (e.g. Form 13D Filings). The Firm also has done, for some time now, on line Internet filings of Form BD for securities broker dealers with the NASD through Web CRD and on line filings of Form ADV for securities investment advisers with the Investment Advisors Registration Depository (IARD). - On September 30, 2002 joined the National Association for Variable Annuities’ subcommittee on digital signatures for variable annuity and variable life products. The subcommittee is reviewing current processes for electronic signature capture and seeking to develop industry standards and regulatory solutions under Federal Securities Laws, State Insurance Laws, Money Laundering Regulations, and Privacy Regulations.

- was appointed as co chair of the Mock Trial Committee of the Westchester County Bar Association (11/02). As part of his work, he is working with 30 Westchester high schools whose students are participating in moot court trials.

- As part of the firm’s pro bono activities, Bob recently defended Pathways to Housing on a criminal complaint in Yonkers, New York. Pathways to Housing is a non profit organization that works to end homelessness for people living on the streets with concurrent mental illness and addiction.

- participated in the New York City Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Law Day, which was held in New York City on November 11, 2001. On that occasion John offered his services on a pro bono basis to give legal advice on wills, trusts, powers of attorney and living wills and health care proxies to persons who attended the meeting. Each session with a client lasted one half hour and he offered to prepare documents in situations where they were warranted and requested.
