  • For the third straight year, Joe Brophy was selected as a Super Lawyer in the New York Metropolitan area in the field of Personal Injury/Medical Malpractice. Super Lawyers is a listing of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have been recognized by their colleagues as having the highest degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. Super Lawyers has a rigorous selection process; only five percent of all lawyers in each state are eligible for consideration, and far fewer are selected [see www.superlawyers.com].   • lectured on May 21, 2009 in White Plains, New York on "Estate Planning Techniques Best Suited for the Current Economic Environment” for UJA Federation of NY’s 19th Annual Westchester Estate, Tax and Financial Planning Conference. For lecture materials, click on Seminar Outline.
  • Bill was honored as a "Best Friend" by the Friends of Westchester County Parks at that organization’s 2009 Best Friends Awards Reception held on April 29, 2009 at the Glen Island Harbour Club in New Rochelle. Bill, a member of the Firm's Business Litigation group, is a long-time champion on parks issues, and serves as Chair of the Westchester County’s Citizen’s Task Force on Deer Management and Forest Regeneration. Bill is also Chair of the Westchester County Parks Board.

  • McCarthy Fingar LLLP Announces Joint Venture with Brazilian Law Firm Brito & Sukiennik Advogados Associados
  • The firm is pleased to announce a joint venture with the Brazilian law firm of Brito & Sukiennik. Brito & Sukiennik, with offices in the federal capital of Brazil, Brasilia, is among the premier young law firms in Brasilia. The joint venture will practice international and local commercial law in matters involving both individuals and companies that engage in cross border transactions involving the United States and Brazil. The principal attorneys of the joint venture are fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese.   • lectured on June 12, 2009 in White Plains, New York on "Taxes in a Nutshell" for the Trusts and Estates Law Section of the New York State Bar Association, as part of an all-day program entitled "Everything You Wanted to Know About Estate Planning for the Middle Class Client (But Were Afraid To Ask)".   • lectured on June 2, 2009 at St. Luke's Hospital, New York, New York, on charitable planning with charitable lead trusts.
  • was a state-wide moderator of a program entitled "Everything You Wanted to Know About Estate Planning for the Middle Class Client (But Were Afraid To Ask)" for the Trusts and Estates Law Section of the New York State Bar Association. The program was offered in seven locations (Albany [5/20/09], Buffalo [5/27/09], Manhattan [6/9/09], Melville [5/30/09], Rochester [6/3/09], Syracuse [5/14/09] and White Plains [6/12/09]).   • We are pleased to announce that, effective January 1, 2009, the Manhattan law firm of Aufrichtig & Aufrichtig, P.C. has merged with McCarthy Fingar. As a result of the merger, the firm has opened a Manhattan office, enhanced our practice areas with a new Intellectual Property group and added the following attorneys: Peter D. Aufrichtig (Partner), Paul S. Aufrichtig (Counsel) and Reine H. Glanz (Associate)
