- Estate and Trust Administration, including after-death
planning to minimize estate, gift, fiduciary and generation-skipping
taxes
- Estate Planning and Drafting of Wills and Trust Agreements

|
- Significant Matters and Transactions:
|
- John frequently represents estates before the Internal
Revenue Service and the New York State Tax Commission, which
representation has often resulted in substantial reductions
in Federal and New York estate taxes. In one instance, such
representation led to the filing of a petition in the U.
S. Tax Court, which proceeding was eventually settled in
the taxpayer’s favor, saving many million of dollars
in estate taxes.
- John often brings proceedings in the Surrogate’s
Court regarding Wills and Trust Agreements. In one instance
he successfully brought a proceeding to interpret and reform
a Will so as to preserve large charitable deductions for
the estate thereby significantly reducing estate taxes.
John often finds that careful planning after death can reduce
and sometimes even eliminate estate taxes.
