Consulate General of Brazil in New York; Bestowing Ceremony of the Order of Rio Branco; New York, NY; July 6, 2011; Comments made by Ambassador Osmar Chohfi
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen:
It is with great pleasure that we gather here to honor our long-time friend, attorney Paul Aufrichtig, to bestow on him the Order of Rio Branco in the rank of Officer. This decoration is awarded by the President of the Republic of Brazil, Ms. Dilma Roussef, Grand Master of the Order of Rio Branco, upon nomination by the Council of the Order, and recognizes the commitment and dedication of Mr. Aufrichtig in favor of Brazil.
Brazil has been present in many of the causes sponsored by Paul Aufrichtig. Throughout his legal career, which now numbers more than fifty years, he has defended the interests of Petrobras, several Brazilian banking institutions and also of this Consulate General.
His advice, always precise and balanced, has guided us through diverse and complex legal spheres and helped us to consolidate our mission: to provide support to the Brazilian community residing here while strengthening the good relations between Brazil and the United States.
In fact, he is an important interlocutor with our community: Director of the Brazilian-American Chamber of Commerce, a Member of its Executive Committee and the Chairman of the Legal Committee.
Thank you all and I would like to be the first one to greet my friend Paul Aufrichtig, our new Officer of the Order of Rio Branco.
