has become more complex. Such cases may arise from a missed
Statute of Limitations, a late filing, failure to sue the
proper party, errors in preparing documents, mishandling of client funds or improperly
paying out funds, to give just a few examples. |

The large majority of legal malpractice cases we undertake result in out of court settlements for our clients; relatively few go to trial. Some such cases may result in ethics complaints being lodged against the defendant attorneys. Most of the local grievance committees will not consider ethics complaints against lawyers while court proceedings are pending. The threat of a grievance or a prosecution is never an ethical bargaining tool in any type of litigation. Conversely, clients need not abandon legitimate grievances against attorneys as part of the settlement of a lawsuit.
